Life

28 06 2007

So it has been a while since I have posted anything other than beautiful weddings and engagements. We had something like six weddings in June on top of our busy portrait schedule. This has obviously kept us very busy but it has been worth it.

As most of you know Hayden is now on summer break and Ethan is done with pre-school. The kids have gotten used to Hayden being here all day now and they play all day and Hayden is enjoying his summer break very much. Hayden is growing up a lot and helps around the house quite a bit. We have agreed to pay him $4.00 per hour for some things as he learns that prosperity comes with work and not laziness. All of the kids are growing a lot and it is freaking me out. All of a sudden Ellery looks more like a little girl than a baby. When did that happen and who gave her permission?!??!

Jaime, A very close friend of ours is getting married in August and Jodi and Robyn (Jaime’s sister) are throwing her a shower this Saturday at the house. We are so excited for Jaime and Josh and just feel blessed and excited to be part of everything. Jodi has been putting in 150 percent just getting ready for the big party. It is going to be a crazy, frilly, day at the Johnson household. Me and the kids are getting out of dodge. After the party I get to do a bridal portrait shoot with Jaime and her wedding dress. That is going to be awesome!!

Next week we are going to be in the Grandville fourth of July parade. This will be a new and fun thing for the studio. I ordered 4,000 tootsie rolls today and we are giving out gift cards and some other goodies. We are praying it will help boost more portrait sessions for the summer and fall….plus it will just be fun. Jodi’s mom, Phil, and sister are going to walk with us in the parade so it will be fun.

Our first employee, Kyle, has been doing and excellent job and is a blessing to have around. He has a strong work ethic and a great eye. He has been helping keep my head above water. He has also been shooting weddings with us and has been doing a great job. Just in the last two days we have booked a few weddings for Kyle to shoot on his own. We are confident in his skills and his bright future in photography.

We have an upcoming trip to Hawaii for Jodi’s brother’s wedding. It is going to be great to be there with them, enjoy their wedding, hawaii, and a nice break together with just Jodi and I. We are very excited for Scott and Cari and their wedding. Between now and then we have a full portrait schedule. I will keep you posted on other developments in the Johnson Household. We continue to trust God with everything we have and trust in his provision for us. Blessings to all of you.

Whatcha doin’ daddy?

20 05 2007

We spent the weekend at the cottage again this weekend. Ellery was watching me grill some burgers and I could not resist taking her picture. She is getting so big and is acting more like a little girl than a baby. Where does the time go?

Life at Home

23 04 2007

It is time once again for a Johnson Family update. Pretty much everything is ticking along as normal at our home. We had a garage sale last weekend to empty the basement and where quite successful. Thank you Lord for your provision for us again.

We have some very exciting news for Jodi (no, we are not pregnant). Jodi has become an independent beauty consultant for Mary Kay. She grew up with Mary Kay, uses it every single day, and loves every part of it. She is like this poster child for Mary Kay or something. She has already been having a blast doing facials and custom make-overs for others. It is an absolute ball to get a group of girls together for this deluxe pampering session. Call Jodi to set up a party in your home. There is no obligation and it is totally fun and relaxing.

We also have an insane amount of Mary Kay IN STOCK in our home so if you need anything just give Jodi a call and she will score you the good stuff. Her web site is http://www.marykay.com/jodijohnson71

Life is good. God provides.

First Blue Lake Sunset of ’07

3 04 2007

This weekend my family and I headed to Blue Lake for the first weekend of the summer. Even though the water was about…..zero…..the boys and I got the long section of the dock into place. It was very relaxing to chill at the cottage and it was fun to watch the kids play, something they have been eager to do for about 5 months. The picture above is Jodi and Ellery enjoying the first Blue Lake sunset of the year.

Crazy Fun at Chuck-E-Cheese!

16 03 2007

This image will give you an idea of the crazy fun that was had at our annual family birthday party at Chuck-E-Cheese. It is an annual trek to celebrate Clayton, Heath, and Trey’s birthdays with the entire family. Happy birthday boys! Jodi fell asleep in like two minutes from all the fun and excitement! I love you hunny.

Standing Triumphant

7 03 2007

I stood triumphant tonight at the entrance to my garage surveying the result of what was likely the last time I would have to snow-blow my driveway this winter. There is something that perks in my soul at the mere concept of putting away the snow blower and getting out the deck furniture. There is something wonderful and something spiritual about the new life of spring. Think Spring!

Booger crises!

6 03 2007

Tonight I was sitting quietly on the couch editing images on my Macbook Pro when suddenly there came an ear-wrenching scream from the bath tub followed by great rustling of water and cries of fear.

Upon quickly darting to the bathroom to see what was the matter I discovered Trey standing in the corner of the tub crying and pointing. After a closer look and a short pause, Ethan clarified that there was a “booger” floating in the tub, that it was Trey’s, and they he was very afraid of it. Ethan had apparently tried to “catch” it in a cup but it kept “running away”. Dad was able to remove the booger and save the day. Hopefully Trey will not have any nightmares tonight.
